The New York Yankees are set to make changes in the front office after the team elected to not renew the contracts of advisers Omar Minaya and Brian Sabean, the New York Post reported.
The pair of longtime MLB general managers had been advisers to current Yankees GM Brian Cashman since 2023.
The decision came after the Yankees finished in second place in the American League East in the 2026 season with a 93-68 record. They were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Rays during the American League Division Series in a three-game sweep.
Minaya, 67, previously served as GM of the Montreal Expos (2002-04) and New York Mets (2004-10).
Sabean, 70, started his career with the Yankees in 1985 as a scout. , then served as general manager of the San Francisco Giants (1996-2015) before he was promoted to executive vice president of baseball operations after the franchise won its third World Series in five seasons.
Sabean stepped down from his VP role with the Giants after the 2018 season but remained in the organization.
